Protesters turn White House barricade into memorial wall for victims of racism

The wall was erected amidst protests for George Floyd

June 10 - PROTESTERS HAVE turned a fence intended to prevent crowds edging toward the White House into a memorial wall for victims of racial injustice

President Donald Trump ordered the wall be erected around Lafayette Square last week, following ongoing protests in Washington DC.

Mayor De Blasio Lifts Curfew In New York City 1 Day Ahead Of Schedule

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – June 8, Mayor Bill de Blasio has lifted the curfew in New York City.
The curfew was originally set to have its final night tonight starting at and 8 p.m. and expire at 5 a.m. Monday morning, when the city moves into Phase One of reopening.

De Blasio thanked the tens of thousands of peaceful protesters as well as the members of the NYPD who protected them.
The mayor said his priorities throughout the week had been protecting the right to protest, avoiding the loss of life, avoiding injury, protecting property and avoiding deploying the National Guard.

Changes are coming to the NYPD. A shift in funding is just part of the reform plan, which Mayor Bill de Blasio calls a "transformative movement." CBS2's Hazel Sanchez reports.
