Jul 15 - ...Subrahmanyam Jaishankar agreed with Wang Yi's general assessment of China-India relations and said as two major developing countries, India and China have a lot in common and should enhance cooperation in various areas. India has not changed and does not want to change the strategic assessment of India-China relations. India is willing to work with China to push bilateral relations out of a slump. Jul 19 - Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar confessing about political interference in Financial Action Task Force (FATF) decisions has said that FATF decided to keep Pakistan in grey list under Indian pressure.
Indian Minister for External Affairs’s confession has raised questions over the transparency of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). FATF claims to be a non-political platform but the Indian minister’s statement hints otherwise.
On the other hand, Pakistan has decided to bring the matter of India’s political intervention in FATF’s decision to keep Pakistan in grey list in account of FATF President.
In response to the media queries regarding Indian External Affairs Minister’s statement of 18 July 2021 regarding India’s disagreeable role in the grey listing of Pakistan by Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the Foreign Office spokesperson said that the Indian statement not only exposes its true colors but also vindicates Pakistan’s longstanding stance on India’s negative role in FATF.
Pakistan has always been highlighting to the international community the politicization of FATF and undermining of its processes by India... more

JULY 20, 2021•STATEMENTS AND RELEASES
TO THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES:
Section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)) provides for the automatic termination of a national emergency unless, within 90 days prior to the anniversary date of its declaration, the President publishes in the Federal Register and transmits to the Congress a notice stating that the emergency is to continue in effect beyond the anniversary date. In accordance with this provision, I have sent to the Federal Register for publication the enclosed notice stating that the national emergency with respect to Lebanon declared in Executive Order 13441 of August 1, 2007, is to continue in effect beyond August 1, 2021.
Certain ongoing activities, such as Iran’s continuing arms transfers to Hizballah — which include increasingly sophisticated weapons systems — serve to undermine Lebanese sovereignty, contribute to political and economic instability in the region, and continue to constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. For this reason, I have determined that it is necessary to continue the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13441 with respect to Lebanon.
JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR.
THE WHITE HOUSE,
July 20, 2021.
As President Ashraf Ghani led prayers of Eid al-Adha on Tuesday, three rockets landed on the presidential palace in Kabul. At first glance, everybody expected that the Taliban was behind the attack, which has been leading an offensive across the country ahead of the expected withdrawal of US troops on 11 September 2021. ISIS
Jul. 21 - But surprisingly enough, it wasn’t the Taliban that made claim to the attack but the Islamic State (ISIS), a familiar name in Afghanistan, better known by its local affiliate, IS-Khorasan. In the past, the terror group has carried out several attacks across the country, expected to increase, both in sum and precision, once the US withdrawal is complete.
According to intelligence reports, over the past six months several ISIS fighters have fled the al-Hol Camp in eastern Syria and found their way to Afghanistan, where they are preparing for the day after President Joe Biden completes troop withdrawal on the 20th anniversary of the twin attacks on New York City. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has said that this was to put a “responsible end” to the Afghanistan war, on its 20th anniversary—something easier said than done.
It might have the opposite effect, however, thrusting the country into the unknown, igniting a new civil war, along with a Taliban comeback and sweeping rise for ISIS. The Russians claim that that US is responsible for the smuggling of ISIS troops from Syria to Afghanistan, nudging them to move their base of operation to new territory, hoping that they can eventually eclipse the Taliban and use Afghanistan as a launching pad against China. The chances of them teaming up with the Taliban are slim, since they share different ideology despite the many common denominators, with ISIS being of the Hanafi school of Islam and Taliban being from the Hanbali one... more
Jul 21 - Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Tuesday said India and Israel were behind the ongoing hybrid war against Pakistan and its sole objective was to sour relations between Pakistan and China.
He said this while addressing a press conference here, reports Geo News. The minister said Dasu incident was an attempt to create misunderstandings between Pakistan and China.
Twelve people, including nine Chinese workers and three Pakistanis, were killed on July 14 when a bus carrying workers in Upper Kohistan plunged into a ravine after a mechanical failure resulting in leakage of gas that caused an explosion.
The Chinese workers and the Pakistani staff were proceeding to their workplace for an ongoing project. “Some world powers don’t want Sino-Pak ties to gain strength. Efforts are being made to give an impression to the world that there is an issue of peace and security in Pakistan,” he said, adding that the pace of this unannounced hybrid war was being accelerated. The minister said the Chinese government was satisfied with the investigation but India was trying to give it a new angle... more
